U.S. Passport Applications, 1795-1905-View-the-ACTUAL-IMAGES

Using U.S. Passport Applications for locating genealogy information on ancestors is an area that has not been easily available in the past.

Now through a partnership with the National Archives (NARA) and the Footnote company, the digitized images of these original documents are being published on-line.

These are digitized versions of the ACTUAL IMAGES! This is not just a listing of the names and information from a database. See the actual document in your ancestor's own handwriting!

Some of the items that you might be able to discover are:
Name and address,
Date and place of birth,
Naturalization information, if foreign born,
Occupation or business,
Physical characteristics,
Images of the applicant,
Information regarding the applicant’s immediate family,
Supporting affidavits from friends and relatives,
And much more.

This particular collection is in the growth stage, so you will want to keep checking it until it is fully digitized.

U.S. Passport Applications are just one of the many excellent resources available on Footnote.

You must check Footnote out.
